Lakeview Medical Center is a nonprofit, 40-bed community hospital that serves northwest Wisconsin. No other area hospital offers the number of full-time, resident doctors and specialists that Lakeview has on its staff.

Modern facilities, state-of-the-art technology, and innovative and caring employees make Lakeview a regional medical center of choice.

History

1919 - Under the auspices of the Wisconsin Methodist Hospital Association, Rice Lake Hospital is organized.


1922
- 100 dozen eggs sold to provide operating capital for Rice Lake Hospital.

1926 - Ambulance service started.

1928 - First Auxiliary formed.

1955 - Lakeside Methodist Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals. The hospital has been accredited since that date.

1975 - Ownership of Lakeside Methodist Hospital is transferred to the Community Hospital of Rice Lake.

1976 - Work begins on a total replacement facility.

1977 - People in Rice Lake and surrounding communities meet a fund drive challenge of $750,000.

1978 - Formal dedication ceremonies for Lakeview Medical Center are held on June 17.

1978 - Paramedic ambulance service started.

1979 - Hospital auxiliary reforms to serve needs of new hospital.

1981 - Outpatient Surgery started.

1987 - Community Relations department added.

1990 - Cardiac Rehab started.

1992 - Peritoneal Dialysis, Ultrasound, and Chemotherapy are added to the growing list of services.

1995 - Endoscopies are offered.

1996 - Hospice and Diabetic services started.

2000 - Health & Wellness Center opens in the Cedar Mall.

2001 - LMC is first to offer full-time ER physician coverage.

2002 - Pulmonary Rehab and Wound Ostomy Continence Care offered.

2003 - LMC teams with Spooner Health Systems to open a dialysis center in Spooner.

2004 - LMC fully implements computerized medical records.

2007 - LMC launches "On Call" monthly radio show

2008 - (March 27) LMC integrates with Marshfield Clinic

2008 - Regional Center for Joint Replacement opens for hip/knee
          replacement patients

2009 - Ground cleared for construction of new hospital at 1700 W.
