pulmonary rehabilitation

An outpatient program that combines exercise, education and breath retraining to help individuals achieve and maintain their maximum level of independence and living. It is an evidence-based intervention for patients with chronic respiratory diseases who are symptomatic and often have decreased daily life activities. Respiratory therapists provide patients with an individualized treatment plan including psychological, emotional and physical aspects.

Who is eligible for pulmonary rehabilitation?

If patients have one of the following lung diagnoses they may qualify to participate:

  • COPD (emphysema or chronic bronchitis)
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • Interstitial lung disease
  • Lung cancer/lung cancer surgery
  • Lung volume reduction surgery
  • Pre- and Post-transplant

Lung Disease and Asthma Education: Our pulmonary staff also offers individual sessions to help figure out a person’s triggers, safe zones and when to use their medications.
