Otolaryngology
(Ear, Nose and Throat)
More commonly referred to as an ENT specialist (ear, nose, throat), the otolaryngologist specializes in the diagnosis and medical/surgical treatment of ear, nose, facial, and throat disorders.
Abnormal speech, changes in the voice, hearing loss, ear infections, and dizziness are examples of the wide range of problems the otolaryngologist treats. Others include: tonsil and adenoid problems; diseases of the nose, sinuses and upper airway; loss of smell; salivary gland and thyroid problems; jaw pain and jaw deviation; cancer, cysts; and trauma to the head and neck. |
